3 Things I Learned This Week

mpMELROSE PLACE – The famous address shown at the opening of every episode, 4616 Melrose Place, doesn’t exist. (I know, I checked internet maps, doesn’t even look remotely close to the apartment building…after all these years I was curious…what can I say).

People will move your lunch from the un-sticky shelf #3 to sticky shelf #2. Hint: If you bring salad in a see through container, NO one, NO ONE, will move your lunch.

Commercial for: A Place For Mom – clearly they don’t care about dad.

Duck Dynasty meets Deadliest Catch

I was skimming through Netflix when I came across a show called Ragin’ Cajuns.

For those of you not versed in Louuuuuzzzeeeanna speak you will have to read the captions under them when available. For Duck Dynasty fans….well you should be able to understand their language and appreciate their fancy dress code.

For Deadliest Catch fans you will find their boat drama to be rather…weak. And hot deck hands are…well…they are not there.

Yet the landscape shots are beautiful!!! BEAUTIFUL!!!!!

Click on over to Ragin’ Cajuns.

Round One: Favorite New Fall TV Shows

showWhile I know someĀ  of you have yet to get to your TV shows on your DVR…let me help you out.

Top two best new shows:

The Goldbergs and Brooklyn Nine-Nine.

(Of course this is just my opinion)

The Goldbergs is probably only funny to those who grew up in the 80’s. It’s a more family involved show than That 70’s Show and more about the eras creations than about following characters (like That 70’s Show).

Brooklyn Nine-Nine is like a well crafted SNL skit that has actual substance for longevity. It’s like a mix between The Office and SNL, being a little over the top and unbelievable, but it makes you laugh, and that’s all that matters (I think).

I did checked out The Michael J. Fox show, and while it’s hard not to enjoy watching such a well-loved actor I found it highly uncomfortable. His Parkinson is incredibly noticeable and makes it almost sad to watch. Although I laughed hysterically at the “rolling chair” bit, I felt guilty.

The new show, Dads was…well…so-so, I can see the potential, but I don’t think it will reach the level of acting and writing quality to hold viewership for long, even with its well established cast members.

Of course there are many new shows starting this week! All looking to have some comical staying power based on the previews.

What are your thoughts on the first week of new fall TV shows?

3 Things I Learned This Week

1. When making homemade chicken nuggets and one does not have bread crumbs, smashed up Triscuits work well.

2. My Garmin has no idea I’m a pale white chick and it’s 110 outside, so no I would NOT like to walk (rather than drive) to my next nearby destination.

3. After factory resting your cellphone, incoming calls (not in your contact list) all have numbers from Malaysia.

Life, better known as blah, blah, blah, Random Humor, Spotlight on Writing

Student vs. Writer

As I return to school (Master’s degree) I stumbled on a few student verses writer key points.

Student: Struggling to increase word count.

Writer: Struggling to decrease word count.

Student: Attempting to remain engaged in educational books on subject of major.

Writer: Attempting to absorb as many books and information on the craft as possible.

Student: Staying up late to study, thinking why did I decide to do this to myself!

Writer: Staying up late to work on a manuscript thinking I can keep going, where is the caffeine, I got this!

Student: I have to pay WHAT?!?! for each class!

Writer: I could possibly not be paid for this….ever!
